This morning I can no e600 get Spotify or any apps to play anything even with headphones plugged in, and when I play stuff on youtube, the volume controls have no effect with headphones, and no sound ever comes out of the speakers.

Dell is going to send me another DVD drive to see if it helps. I’m was beated a few days for a many way but my sound dissapointed me all the time. It’s happened on and off e64000 four years to me, and support never did a damned thing to help they even completely bricked my computer remotely trying to solve it. I saw on another forum suggestion to use microsoft generic driver, but still no luck.


I’ve taken a screenshot of the DPC with the modular drive removed that clearly shows the spikes when drop outs occur. This could be due to the fact there is a 2 mm gap between the palmrest and the underlying case where they failed to put the thing back together correctly, but I’m unsure.

I installed this XP SP2 in all the time and installed the latest drivers from dell. As all of you, my E sucks a bit. Upgrading to Windows 7 may clear the problem but it would be prudent to monitor the latency as you install the various drivers. I have had a problem similar to this before, and only ever solved it by wiping the computer, reinstalling 7, and then upgrading again, which I would prefer to avoid if possible.

Didn’t work on Vista 64 bit. I don’t think Dell Denmark likes me anymore, but my efforts to escalate my supportcase to higher levels paid off!

It was behaving like the hard drive was under heavy load and interrupting the data transfer. Anyone success stories besides the blog-author? Theese sound glitches are a real disappointment from Dell. It does seem better so far. For the lat 4 years I’ve had 2 HPs: Alienware 17 and M17x. Did this solve your problem? This site in other languages x. I have the same question The first one had a problem with the CPU. So I noticed that the E was having weird audio glitches with Vista while under light loads.
